Green action plan

How?

  • Eco-friendly cleaning materials

Our project is helping environmental sustainability in the way that we use eco-friendly cleaning materials to reduce chemical products.

  • Recycling measures

We implemented new recycling activities to help our guests to behave more sustainable, learn the process and take it back home with them for future use. This way we can also give access to knowledge about sustainability to our guests. Careful waste separation can be reached by correct signs and instructions regarding which bins need to be used with a particular type of garbage.

  • Energy & water saving measures

We changed the lights to a LED system and put water filters on our taps and showers to reduce water and energy consumption. As there is high-quality drinking water running from the taps, with giving this information to our guests, we can also reduce the number of plastic bottles used when buying drinkable water.

  • Sustainable furnishings

We are planning to use recycled furnishing materials, like carpets, curtains and to use reusable towels and linens.

  • Transportation recommendations

We advise our guests to use public transportation, bikes, or e-bikes in the city centre. For that purpose, we are introducing local transport companies on our side and in the apartment as well. Further we fully digitalized our accommodation booking and check-in process, in which way we created a totally paperless booking experience.

  • Other sustainability measures

With the implementation of a noise filter, we could ensure that our guests will not disturb the local resident’s life balance, so we can avoid continued problems due to noise activities.

Green guest action plan

What can you do as a guest?

  • Separate trash (plastic, paper, rest) – doing this helps our housekeeping staff and makes our recycling initiatives more effective
  • Eat and drink local – we have a list ready for you with our favourite sustainable local service providers for your stay from sustainable restaurants and cafés to green shops and bio markets
  • Try some off the beaten track tour options to avoid the over visited, crowded places
  • Pick sustainable transportation options (we made a list for you). Even public transportation is well connected in Budapest. Use carsharing and other electric vehicle options (scooters, bikes, and segways)
  • Limit your use of plastics
  • Save water – our water is safe for you to drink straight from the tap
  • Respect energy saving measures – the heating system is pre-set to 21° Celsius
  • Switch off the lights when leaving the apartment
  • Close the windows if you are using aircon and switch it off when you are leaving the apartment
  • Switch off the sauna if you are not using it

Finding the right balance in economic, social, and environmentally sustainable issues can and will also improve tourists’ experiences and this process must start with the offered accommodations, like short-term rentals when it comes to big cities and urban tourism in general.
